It might be hard to accept that your pain may be caused by something as simple as bad posture. After all, if pain is serious enough to limit your activities and keep you awake at night, you might think it must be caused by something serious that can probably only be treated with extreme measures like back injections or surgery. Pain as severe as yours couldn’t possibly be caused by something simple like bad posture – or could it?
Your posture is the window to your spine and nervous system. Meaning, any postural abnormalities (head tilt, high or low shoulder, or uneven hips) are a reflection of the weakened, distorted structure of your spine.
Your spinal cord is encased inside your spinal column. Your spinal cord is the “super highway” between the brain and all the vital organs, tissues and cells of your body. ALL the functions of your body are totally dependent on that communication coming through your spinal cord which is carried through the nerves, giving your body the optimal chance to function at its highest potential.
The body must always be reacting (positively or negatively) to gravity. A strong, uninjured spine with good posture adapts well to gravity. Abnormal or weakened posture adapts negatively to the continual forces of gravity. Therefore, our weakened and distorted spines and spinal cords will be subjected to continual and progressive compression and tension resulting from your poor posture.
Known for Years
Progressive breakdown of your posture and its effect on your overall health, has been extensively documented.
Doctors conducting studies at the Shealy Institute, in 1994, stated “Spinal pain, blood pressure, headaches, pulse, lung capacity, and mood are only a small portion of the body’s functions that are most easily influenced by posture.”
The Journal of American Medical Association in 1957 stated “aging in the spinal discs caused postural deviations leading to intestinal diverticula, hemorrhoids, varicosities of the legs, osteoporosis, hip and foot deformities, overall poor health and quality of life, as well as a shortened life span.”
Feich, in “The Discovery of the Orgone,” in 1974 stated that poor posture-induced tension leads to decreased blood flow. This decrease in tissue oxygenation is a major factor in all disease, including Cancer.
If you look around at most people on their devices, they have Forward Head Posture that impinges the spinal cord or “super highway”.
